Hilton - Ocean 22
Location: Myrtle Beach, SC
Project Type: Resort
Completion Date: 2015
TruDesign Studio teamed up with Garvin Design Group and TAG Architecture on this exciting new project. The Hilton Grande Vacations Club project is a 16-acre ocean resort development consisting of 3 components that stretches from the shoreline of the beach back 3 rows (blocks) to US Hwy 17. The 3 components consist of a 25-floor condo/timeshare Tower, a second row Sales Center, and a third row Parking Garage. This is the first project type of this scale in Myrtle Beach since the 'Great Recession'. The site plan and landscape adhere to the existing environment and consist of native plant material suitable for the beach conditions. There was extensive research put into the dune restoration that will protect the dunes and natural environment.
Marriot Grande Dunes
Location: Myrtle Beach, SC
Project Type: Resort
Completion Date: 2012
TruDesign Studio got involved in The Marriot Grande Dunes Beautification Plan to upgrade an existing landscape throughout the resort. Many of the landscaped areas within the resort were starting to show the effects of the harsh environmental conditions due to the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. TruDesign took these conditions into account when determining the plant palate for the new areas that were designed. The new areas that were designed include:
Woodsy Area – An area around an existing retention pond and pool that were upgraded to include a new amphitheater with benches around fire pits, a putting green, an area to grill and eat, and new plant material installation that will provide a lush landscape environment. This area will now offer the residents and visitors a new place to entertain family and friends.
Serenity Pool Area - TruDesign Studio was contracted by The Marriot Grande Dunes to design a new pool area off the main pool that would cater to a more relaxing atmosphere. This new pool area would allow for clients to break away and imerese themselves in a outdoor envirment that would allow for ‘Serenity’. This new Serenity Pool provides guests of the resort an ‘adult’ pool area with a zero entry pool, spa, sun deck space. Leading to the pool deck are paver walk ways and terraces. The main objectives of the design were to incorporate a waterfall to create ‘white noise’ and provide a lush landsaped environmnet with water features, swings, and a deck overlooking the water features the resort provides. This new area has been a success for both the guests of the resort and the managing body of the Marriot Resort.
Allegiant
Location: North Myrtle Beach, SC
Project Type: Resort
Completion Date: hopefully soon...
While with Tag Architecture, I had the opportunity to work on an extrodinary project called Allegiant. This 40 acre site in North Myrtle Beach was to be turned into a mecca of architecure, sustainability, progressive living. The project served as a pilot project for the LEED New Development component of their program. The project incorporated permanent and temporary residences, hotel, grocery, commerical, civic, and recreation. These sustainable components included geen roofs, wind and solar generations, bio-swales, and water harvesting. The project never got off the ground due to the economic crisis of 2008, but the design team is still optomistic the project will get back on track.
SeaMist - Conceptual Study
Location: Myrtle Beach, SC
Project Type: Resort
Completion Date: hopefully soon...
A conceptual study was permorned on an existing resort/hotel in Myrtle Beach, SC. The hotel was searching for design alternatives to explore when the Owners decide on renovating the resort. The design team took the Owners vision and completed a conceptual study. The new hotel concepts shifted the hotel's architectual characteristics into a new modern/contemporary direction. The site was also extensively studied. The addition of a new plaza area on OCean Blvd will now allow for interaction between the street and plaza space. This will create a new lively atmosphere that will draw people into the space. The addition of a new pool design and layout connect the pool deck back to the beach. I was involved with this project while working with TAG and inFORM Studio.
